Jack + Eve

Been talking bout LaMB for quite sometime, let's take a closer look to the characters.

There are 4 characters have been introduced so far, 2 charas have been revealed while the other 2 remain mystery.

We have Jack:

  • Height: 185 cm
  • Professional Background: Scientist - Hortcouture Engineering (Hortcouture refers to Hortilculture and Haute Couture - Advanced Bio-Botanical Design)
  • Duty: restore vegetation to the dusty, red planet of Cerra
And then there is Eve the LaMB:
  • Real name: Major Sara Integra
  • Height: 174 cm
  • Professional Background: Military Scientist - Bio Weapons Division
  • Sentenced 200 years of imprisonment in a lamination suit for killing innocence people by mistake in a military operation.
It seems that Jack is Eve's Shepherd, judging from the Summertime music video performed by Click Five. Of course the relationship between them will grow from there.

will it be an impossible love between a Shepherd and his LaMB?

Silence Speaks [?], Barely Heard

12:57 PM / Posted by dsy / comments (0)

  • LaMBs cannot speak nor do they have free will. Have you ever been in a situation where you felt you couldn’t speak up or express yourself?

I'd say that nowadays people are more free to speak up and express themselves. When we have thoughts burried in our mind about anything - daily life, politics, gadgets, etc - not only we can speak them up freely, but also publish them. The era of blogging has made speaking up an easy task.

Being heard is another thing.

We can talk about the president and his policies, health insurance, starvation, movies, or maybe the latest netbook around... but are we being heard? All the stuff we are talking and screaming about... what impact can it give? Or in the end, it doesn't even matter?

Some people are lucky enough to have a position where they can speak and being listened. The people in the government, teachers, broadcasters, celebrities... are some of the people who have this privilege. Unfortunately, they often forget to use this opportunity to drive people to do good things, to spread good deeds. On the other hand, some people are desperate to be heard to the point they do extreme things.

Maybe it's not the talking that matters, it's the essence in it. And the efforts to make it being heard.

LaMB [Live Action]

12:58 PM / Posted by dsy / comments (3)

  • If a live action movie of LaMB was to be produced, who would you like to see play the starring roles of Eve and Jack and why?

Though I don't know how old Eve and Jack are, from the story previewed I can tell that I should pick mature actress and actor. So, first thing to do, I've got to put Zac Efron aside no matter how much I adore him... ha ha... :P Much too young for a man suffering from his wife's death like Jack.

Pretty hard for male character, but an actress immediately came across my mind to starr Eve. She is Charlize Theron. Her beautiful exquisit face would perfectly captured the soul of Eve. Eve was an ex-weapon specialist, so she must've been smart. Charlize indeed looks smart. And, she is gorgeous with short hair. I'm not a fan of her honestly, but she is just that good for Eve.

Now the difficult part. Jack... scientist, engineer, painful inside, kinda cool... Bruce Willis? Too mature? Well, I think Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves still got it. But you know what? I think I'm gonna go with Takeshi Kaneshiro. He's got the vibe of Jack!

Wait a sec, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Charlize Theron? I wonder how they would go together... :D

'Kay, if it's too weird to be true, I'll go like this:

  • For Hollywood pairs: Tom Cruise / Keanu Reeves & Charlize Theron / Jessica Alba.
  • For Asian pairs: Takeshi Kaneshiro / Takuya Kimura & Zhang Ziyi (she's got that "no emotion face" of Eve) / Ryoko Hirosue / Takako Matsu
  • For Indonesian pairs (ho ho... I've got to do this also): Nicholas Saputra & Wulan Guritno.

That's all I can think of for now... If one day I happen to find some other names, maybe I'll have this topic extended... :D

Beautiful LaMB

11:09 PM / Posted by dsy / comments (0)

  • In LaMB, the process of lamination was first invented to preserve beauty until it evolved into a form of imprisonment. Would you commit a crime to stay young and beautiful?

There's always a price for beauty.

As a woman I know exactly how most women are always self concious about their look. And if there's a price for beauty, women would more than willing to pay it. From those lotions to cosmetics surgeries. If I ever see an advertisement like that in LaMB web manga 1st episode, sure I'd be at least curious.

But! If I had to commit a crime therefore I'd get laminated... gosh, that is way too crazy for me. Being in a lamination suit is the same, if not worse, like being behind bars! By reading the rules of lamination (available in Animax-LaMB website), you'd know that staying young and beautiful by lamination is insane. You'll become more like a slave, practically you can do nothing with your beauty. You might even never have time admiring your beauty on the mirror cause you're enslave all day long. You can't go on a date even if men are stunned by your beauty.

I'd say it's a useless beauty.

Really, I got goosebumps just by thinking about it...

LaMB [the Music]

  • If you had to choose a theme song for LaMB, which song would you choose, which band would you have perform it and why?

If I had to choose... well, I won't choose western band, that's for sure. Not that I'm an anti-western-band kind of thing, of course... but I'd rather have Japanese band with Japanese songs. Why? For a very simple reason; it's an animation made and aired by Animax. Animax is about Japanese anime, with Japanese theme songs. Japanese anime is the positioning of Animax. Everybody who watches Animax expect anime on it. If Animax should ever produce - and it is producing - an animation, IMHO, it should be in somewhat Japanese style.

And I think the best band to perform LaMB theme songs would be L'Arc~en~Ciel. Their songs are some sort of dark yet ear-catching. That darkness should perfectly matches the story.

In anime, usually there are opening and ending songs. The opening is usually an upbeat song, while the ending is the kind of mellow and slower. There are so many songs performed by L'Arc~en~Ciel I can choose for both opening and ending song.

For opening I would consider these songs... They are mostly about freedom, which I think would be perfect for LaMB.

  • New World
  • Jiyuu e no shoutai
  • Nexus 4 (but it's a theme for a Subaru car commercial, would it be a problem?)

And for ending song, I'd pick...

  • Alone en la vida; it has some sort of sadness
  • Singin' in the rain; a jazzy tune would be nice, I think

Of course it's not common to have the same band in both op and ed at the same time. In that case, I'll just have to pick one for some episodes, and another for some other episodes... :P. Some of the songs are pretty old, and maybe some have become a soundtrack for something already (sorry if I miss).

Well, the only problem I have is... I can't really choose!! Those songs are all so good for LaMB so that I can't make up my mind...! Help...! :P

Project i-LaMB [Start]

9:37 PM / Posted by dsy / comments (1)

.When it first buzzin'.

This LaMB thing has been intriguing since the first day of its advertisement on Animax. I pay my own cable so I get to decide on which channel it sticks, and it happens to be Animax (FYI, I'm an anime freak :P) So there's noway I possibly miss any advertisement there.

And one day, there was this advertisement. It was about recycling thing and it announced a website called http://www.cab-cerra.com/. At that time I thought, "Well, yeah, another go-green-campaign". I didn't pay too much attention to it, neither tried to ever visit that web address. (Was I such ignorance to recycling and save-the-planet thing? Dunno, can't figure :-P)

Then there came the second ad. It said something about "recycling criminals" called Lamination. Wow, that IS something. I got it instantly that it must be made up, not a real thing. A new story?

Yeah that was the beginning. It was when I started to dig in the net about this lamination creature.

.LaMB it is.

So LaMB is Animax' first animation project. Based on a 50-page script created by a Fillipino Carmelo S.J. Juinio who submitted the script into a script-writing contest called Animax Award in the year 2007. He didn't win the first prize, but he grabbed a Special Award for his talent shown in his writing.

The story itself is about a planet - Cerra - where there is no prison, because all prisoners have been undergone a slavery program called "Lamination". The prisoners then called LaMBs. Lamination is meant to keep criminals staying productive in society. But they are still criminals, therefore, even though they are physically not put behind bars, they are not free. They are slaves, labours. In other words, Lamination is actually a virtual prison.

One of the LaMBs is Eve - well actually, all female LaMBs are called Eve followed by a serial number. She was an ex-weapon specialist who accidentally took innocent lives before then sentenced to 200 years behind laminated suit. And then there is Jack, a scientist from another planet who is trying to cope with the death of his wife and drowning himself into work. Jack soon gets dragged in the political system of lamination and yep, a romance with Eve the LaMB.

.Animax LaMB.

This project has become very ambitious. You can tell from the ads they aired, and the website they made. The animation itself is planned to be aired in 2009.

.Now...

I guess I'm an ads victim :-P. Well, you name it. But really I'm very excited with its progress. Will it be as extravagant as it advertised? We can only wait and see. Off the record, I think this LaMB thing has already captivated me and here I am, making this blog...
